Lakes Biomass has recently gained HETAS and Woodsure + Plus accreditation for all our wood fuel. Our Woodchip, Logs and Kindling all have a guaranteed moisture content of below 20% and come from only local and sustainable sources.
By gaining Woodsure Plus certificate from HETAS you can be confident that our wood fuel is of a consistently high quality. We are proud to be the first company in Cumbria to gain this accreditation on Wood Chip.
HETAS (the Heating Equipment Testing and Approval Scheme) is the official body recognised by government for approval of biomass fuels, installers and appliances. Accredited suppliers have to demonstrate the high standard of their fuel, including low moisture levels, in order to provide consumer confidence that is it safe, efficient and suitable for the type of appliance they have. Certification also provides the ability for consumers to make an informed choice between products from different suppliers.
Kerry Cooper, Managing Director said “Good quality fuels are essential for safe and efficient combustion. Poor quality fuels waste energy and cost the consumer more, and since we are committed to delivering cost effective fuels we knew that we had to aim for HETAS accreditation.”
“We are very proud of the quality of our wood fuel. It’s made even better by the fact that we source material onlyfrom the local area so it doesn't travel far. This makes it carbon lean - costing the environment as little as possible. It’s well known that switching from fossil fuel to wood fuel reduces CO2 emissions by 90%, but only if the wood is grown sustainably. Our woodland management service ensures that we also act sustainably, ensuring good stock levels for the future.”
As well as providing energy, biomass boilers can also attract a significant income from the government’s renewable heat incentive (RHI), designed to provide long term financial support to businesses who install renewable heat technologies. Already available to commercial customers, RHI will also be available to domestic customers from Spring next year.
